To establish and deploy nationally certified (NASAR) trained, fully equipped search and rescue teams capable of serving as an immediate statewide and local resource for public authorities to assist in locating lost or missing persons in the wilderness, urban, and rural areas in a timely and efficient manner.
To increase response, awareness, prevention, and mitigation of search and rescue through unified training. Develop a statewide SAR community that provides certified members and volunteers trained in incident command investigation, lost behavior, tracking, radio communications, ground technicians, mounted and canine OKSAR teams.
To provide locally trained and certified FEMA/NIMS compliant volunteers to assist as an extension to emergency management, law enforcement, and professional responders during disasters with additional trained, certified manpower assistance for the search and reunification of the lost, missing persons, or animals.
The goals of the Oklahoma Search & Rescue Council are to further the cause of missing persons in our state and promote the common interest of volunteer SAR teams. To promote and establish new laws and tiered missing person alerts to better serve the community and find the missing. To provide training and resources to Law Enforcement agencies throughout the state. To bring relief to families of missing persons and communities hit by disaster.
Each member organization maintains its own identity and independence. They each strive to maintain discipline and professionalism among their ranks. All have come together to further the professionalism of the SAR discipline in our state. To improve the quality of our unpaid SAR professionals in the field, and to provide needed services with consistent educational training and certification efforts.
OKSARC will provide verification of successful completion of training for individuals and SAR Teams who belong to member agencies of OKSARC.
The Oklahoma Search and Rescue Council is a organizational member of National Association for Search and Rescue - NASAR, and abide by their standards of certifications and credentialing requirements set by them and the State of Oklahoma.
